I konw I'm late with this but I'm just posting this because I want it to be here.

So for New Years, me and my friend Carlos went to Ohio to vist our friend Kris.

Summary: First we drive to Zanesville where his parents live and meet up with him there. Play PS2 and sleep over for the night. Next day (December 31st), we drive to Cincinnati to go his house (who he shares with 3-4 other people) and we head up for a party at someone's house, whom they all know. We party hard. I decide to bring along my Robot suit and it was a hit. I drink. A lot. And it's my first time ever. I had about four cans of beers, two shots of wine, a shot of Jim Bean and two shots of Vodka. Good times. We go back to Kris' place and head over to Domino's for some late night munchies. After some collective vomitting, we go to sleep. Next day me and Carlos bid farewell and head back home.

well, classes have ended and break has begun (well, I should've written this last week to be more accurate).

but I ended the semester with a 3.6. I'm quite happy with that since I'll be the first to tell you that I didn't put my 100% into my classes... not even 90%. For a sec, I thought everything was going downhill the last few weeks but I guess not.

So yeah, more to come.... I guess...

My classes at NOVA begin August 22. I had to change my schedule since originally I was going to take 4/5ths of my classes at the Alexandria campus but if you know anything about the DC area... that traffic is HORRIBLE. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was rated in the top 3 for worst traffic in the entire nation. Anyway, that would've been too much of a hassle since I live pretty far and gas prices... are absolutely crazy. So I rescheduled my classes to other campuses so I'll have my classes on Monday (2 classes), Tuesday (1 class), and Wednesday (2 classes). Should work out well, I hope.

Tomorrow at 9:00 AM, I'll be going in for a job interview to work at Safeway Supermarket. I applied like two months and just got a call today for an interview. But we were in the process of seeking a position at Giant Supermarket... but I'll do Safeway since its nearer. I think the person said I'd be going for Deli assistant. Sounds alright. Frank the Ice Cream Man to Frank the Deli Man.

and all this week I have Behind-the-wheel sessions because I need my drivers liscense by next week (going to school, work and all that). As for a car, we're looking at either a Nissan Sentra or a Toyota Camry. Hopefully, I'll get either one ASAP.

whoa... so I just got a voicemail from someone I never expected to hear from again. Not that it's bad, no, quite the opposite... I just thought I'd never talk to her again and I was sure she had forgotten about me. If you're wondering, yes, I've mentioned her here awhile ago and the situation we were kinda in but... oh well. This is interesting. She moved and I never got her current phone number but she called Mike to ask for my number. She's coming back here for awhile so... I don't know. We'll see what happens.

not much going on. I'm gong to take the English placement tests for NOVA and then enroll for classes. Hope I get some good classes still.

oh, Mike is going to get the NIN tickets on Saturday for the upcoming show at the MCI Center on November 2. Hopefully he can score some GA tickets so we can finally be front row. If we do snag some, I'm going to the venue AT LEAST 8 hours before doors open. I'm taking this very seriously. Sadly, at the Philly show we went to, because Mike had IB testing, we left later than we originally planned and alas, we only made it to the middle of the pit floor. But this time... no joking around. Front row. Nine Inch Fucking Nails. School? I have any classes that day, fuck'em.

the day has finally come. I am now a high school graduate. So yep. Glad that whole experience is over... not that I hated it but being around those sort of people for 4 years straight isn't exactly peachy. but whatever. I'm looking foward, not backwards. Going to Northern Virginia Community in August and then going for a year then transferring out.

So yeah, it's summer and I should be happy as hell. Well, if anything, I don't have to carry the burden I was just a week ago. If you didn't know, I was that close to not graduating. Surprising I know but it was because of one class, my IB Topics class that I was doing horrible in and if I didn't do well in the 4th quater and on the final exam, I would've not recieved the credit and not graduated. Fortunately, I passed (infact, I got the highest score of the entire class on the final exam. go figure.) and went on. Anyway, I should be fucking estatic... out of high school, being 18 years of age, with all my good years infront of me. But I'm not feeling so happy go lucky, at least now. The most obvious contributing factor to this is that I am without a job (that position I was waitng for at Pop's? Yeah, that asshole boss gave it away) and I still don't have a car which really ticks me off. Sure, my parents don't see the harm in buying a $40,000 Lexus SUV but won't even spend fucking more than $2500 (this fact is confirmed) for a car for me to work and to go to school. And that means I can't go anywhere, just to go out and be somewhere other than here. It's not that I hate being here, I just naturally like going out.

but that aside, I feel more lonely than I ever have before. I wish I could put that in less whiney, less angst ridden way but I'd be bullshitting you with one big giant string of euphemisms... and its more to the point. that's nothing new but lately, its becoming more of a big deal to me than before. it bothers me. I have my family and am infiniately greatful to them but other than them, I don't think I'm close with anyone else or have people that I would consider really good friends. There's Mike but he's too pussy whipped to see what is really happening to him and sadly everyone, including his parents, see it. So for now, here's a body snatcher type situation. Then There's Kris who I am more close to than I am with Mike but he's living somewhere else. Other than that, that sums up in my social life. I always keep saying that that the reason I don't have as much real friends is because I was in high school, there's no one to relate to blah blah blah but I'm starting to fear that it will perpuate on even until college. I'm hoping it'll change.

I am alone and it's becoming more real to me. Sure, some of you might post comments with replies such as "aww i'm sorry, you know I'm here for you, Frank"...
but I'm being brutally honest when I say I can't remember the last time someone messaged me on AIM (other than Mike, which was to talk about graduation and stuff). Granted I haven't been on AIM as much as say a month ago but still. I'm not trying to say that none of you care but I'm just pointing out what I see.

went to the Faint/Bright Eyes show yesterday at the 9:30 club.

me and Mike got there early so we got near the front of the line. Bianca and Will eventually showed up and we all went in. We all staked out places in the front row which was what I was aiming for.

The Faint were awesome as usual. That makes it the third time I've seen them. They played some unexpected tunes (In Concert, Let the Posion Spill From Your Throat) and also the classics. I think the Worked Up So Sexual they did was the my favorite out of the three. The crowd wasn't as crazy as last time but then again, I'd say the majority of the people there were 15 year old girls. Yuck.

Anyway, Bright Eyes took the stage and though Im not familiar with his studio work, he and the band put on a great show. It was painfully obvious that Oberst was fucked up something since he was kinda mumbling before each song. Some guys from the Faint joined the live band, the guitarist from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs played guitars and Gretta from Cursive was there, too (She is so goddamn fucking hot). But yeah, awesome show.

and I was so dissapointed last week. I missed the Gang of Four show but couldn't go since no one was willing to with me and I didn't feel like going to DC through the metro alone. Bah.

[b] Léon (Another one in the top 5. This film is ownage beyond ownage. The outstanding performances make the movie, IMO. Jean Reno's character is the biggest walking contradiction ever, Gary Oldman's character is the most evil but fucking coolest villian ever to be show up on celluloid and Natlie Portman delivers the best performance in her career which is sad and great at the same time.)
[c] Fight Club. (I know this shows up on movie lists of every 17-25 year old but it's because IT IS a great film. Lately, this is the movie I've been watching the most, weird since I've owned the DVD for at least 2 years.)
[d] Evil Dead 2. (My favorite out of the "trilogy". I can't say enough awesome things about this movie. And the commentary track (by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, Greg Nikatero and Scott Spiegel) is probably the best commentary I've ever heard, for serious. Half of the times I've watched it, I've turned on the commentary. It's like sitting through an episode of MST3K but with more techinical insights.)
[e] Zoolander. (I watch this at least once a week, almost like its mandatory. When I do watch it (and I'm by myself), I recite all the lines perfectly word by word... its scary.)

I have a couple of photographs to showcase.

Haven't worked on a real project in awhile but I started a new series which originally was going to continue off a previous series (the "Man With No Name" series, for all my fans keeping track tongue.gif) but it evolved into something else, a bit more different, more personal expression involving the model himself.

As of now I only have two photos completely ready and I have three more but I decided to reshoot those three scenes since they're not as good as I hoped (all three have issues with clarity since I was using 100 speed film, which takes a lot of time, and I didn't have a tripod with me and thus they came a bit blurry). And instead of doing fancy shmancy darkroom tricks and manipulations, I decided to take a more traditional approach, focusing on the composition of the images as a whole, the surrounding enviroment and their relationship with the subject.

So yes, the model featured is Germaine, from the other series but as you can see, his face isn't fucked up. tongue.gif Hope you enjoy and there will be more to come.

I suppose i owe you guys an update...

school is still sucking. hard. really, other than the upcoming IB exams, everything I'm doing is pointless. I'm going to attend NOVA (the community college) and all I need really is the diploma so I have senioritus ^ infinity. i just can't wait until i graduate high school (8 more weeks)... i really am going to start fresh and won't have the baggage of less than adequate grades to keep holding me down (since college transfers really only look at your current grades). gah.

and i'm probably not going to senior prom. which really is not bumming me out. I honestly could care less though people are telling me to go. unless shirley manson is my date, then I'm not going. waste of money anyway.

i have a cell phone... my mom bought it for me. was kinda unexpected. I never imagined myself as a cell phone guy or whatever. the only reason I have it is that I'm getting my driver's license soon and i'll be out on the road. But with this opportunity, I will promise to make outrageous and rediculous ring tones (my current ringtone is Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" in midi form) and voice mail greetings.

hmmm... what else, what else... my social life is still poo. living 30 minutes (assuming there's no traffic is which like never here) from everyone I know is difficult.
and I bet you're all just dying to ask me, "You have a girlfriend?" The answer, my friends, is no. I don't know if I've given up or not. I'm sure most of you have read the story with Connie and I, which was my attempt at a relationship. Haven't spoken to her in awhile though (then again, none of us have). I haven't been with anything or even fooled around with anyone since October of 2001, which is when I broke up with my last gilfriend. AND I'M STILL ALIVE. AMAZING....

so of course, as a lot of you, the last week hasn't really been that great to me (what after basically being threatened by the school to get out if I don't change my address immediately and being rejected from SVA) so I really wanted to do something this weekend. Sadly, my wish has not come true. It sucks living where I do because all my friends live 30 minutes away from me so it's not as easy as before to hang out with people.

Kris came this weekend for his dads retirement ceremony but caught up with too much stuff to have free time since I wanted to chill with him. He said he'd be coming down here next weekend just by himself so that should be cool.

this week, Germaine is coming back from France so hopefully I can get him for my upcoming photo shoot. It's going to be tricky because it's going to be non-studio (which a lot of my stuff is) and the images I have in mind aren't the easiest to set up (such as I want a shot where it looks as if I'm shooting a bunch of cars still in traffic) but I have a couple weeks to figure it out since my teacher let me post-pone it (but because Germaine was in France, I couldn't get the film last week). The theme/concept is a continuation off my "Man With No Name" series. Should be interesting.

what else, what else.... oh, been getting into M83. He/They're pretty awesome. Though I admit they're crescendo-whores... but it works. :(
but yeah, M83's coming to the Black Cat in April so I'm wondering if I should go to that. I'm going to see the Bloc Party in the same month so that sould be fun (then Nine Inch Nails and Autechre in May).
I'm wondering if I should go to one of the Interpol shows here. They both sold out when they first started selling but I found a way to get scalped tickets for really cheap (on average, right now they're probably $40 a ticket, face value $25). We'll see.

just got a letter from the School of Visual Arts (the school in New York). Turns out I didn't get accepted. :\

sucks big time since I was really looking foward to going there. But the reason they stated was because my academic record wasn't strong enough (I had taken a lot of science courses prior to my senior year, while SVA focuses on humanties classes and such) and was doing IB so I didn't get the best of grades. Of course this is a surprise but I'm not totally shocked since I knew if I didn't get accepted, which was a good chance, it would be for that very reason.

so yeah, i'm very dissapointed and upset, i'm not feeling too super right now but hopefully I'll get over it soon. If anything, this will just make me work harder and really, my success is not going to be limited by what school I go to so long as I have the skills and am driven though having a school like SVA on my resume would be nice). so yeah, I guess I'll just go to a school here next year and build up another portfolio and ~~NOT TAKE ANY MORE IB GODDAMN CLASSES~~get my academic record straight and try again next year.

GUESS WHO IS GOING TO SEE NINE INCH FUCKING NAILS PERFORM IN PHILLY ON MAY 19?

my friend snagged 4 tickets (for me, him, his brother and his girlfriend). The sale started on Ticketmaster at 5:00 PM sharp... it sold out at 5:08 PM. We're insanely lucky. I know a lot of people from the PI board who weren't so lucky. I really feel for them and it really does suck.

but alas... I'm finally going to see NIN. I've been waiting for this ever since I picked up The Downward Spiral, my first NIN CD, in 2000. This really is a dream come true. *sigh* Nine Inch Nails, man. :)
so yeah, we're going to see them perform at the Electric Factory. The Dresden Dolls, who I saw at the Black Cat in the fall, are going to support and they fucking OWN live. They were probably my favorite show of 2004 and trust me, I went to a lot of shows last year. So it's great that its going to be a killer show all around.

RATATAT MOTHERFUCKERS!!

*ahem*

holy shit they were awesome. if you don't know, my friend and I met up with Rynne and got to see Ratatat perform in D.C. at the Black Cat. So I guess I should give a mini-review eh?

The first band up were The Soft Complex. In sum, they sounded like a more danceable, less punk version of Cursive. I was surprised, I actually enjoyed them a lot, they had good energy and definately got the crowd moving. My only complaint is that maybe some of the songs seemed to long but then again, I'm not familiar with any of their material so it might seem longer to me.

Next up were the Doubles. All I have to say is that that was the worst use of guitar EVER in a band. The band itself wasn't bad but the guitarist... jesus christ I didn't know if he was drunk (hoping he was) or if that was really how he meant to play. It's sad because of the rest band sounded good, like a mix of Godspeed!, Flaming Lips with lots of vintage Mellotron. It was like they got together before the show and
said, "So guys, we have some pretty good songs... but we're gonna get Bob over here to play guitar with off-key notes, amplify the fuck out of it and puporsely try to get him to ear rape everyone in the audience, YEAH, LET'S DO IT!" If they axed (GET IT?!) the guitarist or had him play, I would've enjoyed them more.

and next up, RATATAT! They opened with a new song (never heard it before) I guess called Pone (I was front row and saw their playlist) and it sounded pretty rocking, didn't sound too different from previous material but that's alright. The rest of the playlist was (in order, best from memory) El Pico, Desert Eagle, Germany to Germany, Crips, 17 Years (which everyone went nuts for, of course), Bustelo and two songs that were new. Their energy was great and their songs of cousrse translated live very well. During the show, the guitarist did little things like let someone get on stage and play a shaker (heh i don't know) and the guitarist put his guitar out infront of me to poke around with and so I did.

then they did an encore and they performed a new song and then Breaking Away (which is my favorite song from theirs). It was awesome though because half way through the new song, the guitarist was signaling the crowd to come up and lots of people just bum rushed the stage, including me (again, I was front row so I said 'eh, what the hell, i'll go') it was just an orgy of people on stage and it was a blast. THEN after they finished Breaking Away (which I saw on the playist was their last song for the encore) the guitarist says "Jeez, there's so many people up here, I don't know what to do!" and then they decided to replay 17 Years.

After the show ended, I bought a red Ratatat t-shirt which is pretty pimp. So in sum, it was a great show++. Highly recommended if you're a fan or are curious about them.
